This is a truly amazing original 1974 Rickenbacker 4001 in the rarely seen Burgundyglo finish that I recently purchased from the long term owner. These are incredible workhorses and have a HUGE sound. This particular one has had some life to it, being gigged often but looked after at the same time. The finish has a few dings and scrapes to it, as you can see, and the pick guard has a crack to the front just above the pickup.
The action is good on this for an old Ricky. I’ve had many that are a little high, but this one is a good level which I have pictured below. It’s not as low as a Fender or the likes, but still very playable. You guys who plays Ricky’s expect the action a little higher than most! Previously the fretboard has had a glue repair near the headstock (pictured below) which is now as sturdy as ever. It’s an honest workhorse of a guitar and a nice one at that.
