I am so excited to share this beauty for sale – one of the first ‘script’ logo amplifiers, still with all the ‘block’ logo attributes! This wonderful JTM45 is uncirculated and has been sat in the current owners house for decades, used as an amplifier for his Hammond. He wasn’t entirely sure of the significance of such an amplifier until he contacted us. It’s a 1965 Marshall JTM45, in wonderful cosmetic condition throughout – one of the nicest I’ve seen for some time! The gold strip on the front is an earlier feature from the block logo era, and the standby light is another earlier feature. The back white panel has no voltage selector on it, as it is on the mains transformer instead, another early feature.
Internals
I am pretty certain this is one of the first ever script logo amplifiers made and, if the holes for the script weren’t already there, I’d be certain it was a block logo originally! Internally nice and clean – again one of the cleanest I’ve seen for some time. The owner had a new Douglas output transformer fitted back in the 1970s. Also along with a pair of GEC KT88 (rather than KT66). This would have originally had a KT66 powered RS ‘Horseshoe’ transformer in it, which the chassis is cut for. The main transformer and the choke area original to the amplifier and have earlier features also. The ECC83s consist of 2x original and 1x slightly later Hammond replacement. The rectifier valve is original to the amplifier too.
I’ve sent it to one of my techs for a full service. It is now ready to go and it sounds amazing. It’s a really nice and original example, you will not be disappointed! Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of my description.
