That ‘JH EXP’ stencil is forever embedded into my memory – this is a dream come true!
This drum case came from the Mitch Mitchell collection, and was used on tour with Jimi Hendrix. It’s got the Trans World Airlines sticker on it from JFK to LHR. According to Hendrix’s archives show this to have been on 4th July 1968 – right in the heat of the Hendrix Electric Ladyland boom!
After The Experience finished, there is some link between Mitch and Miller Anderson (and Ian Hunter too?), who had a band / album called Hemlock. This is the second stencil beneath the JH EXP. Some of you music nuts will be able to tell me exactly as it’s a super cool part of the history of this!
